I was a 60 year old communications professional seeking a major career change when I found VSBT’s web site and read about their 3 month web design course. At first, I was not really sure if I could keep up with the demands of the program, which features intensive training in 5 different software programs – and creating a fully functional web site – in only 11 weeks. At times I felt like I was falling behind, especially since many of my classmates seemed to have much more experience in these programs than I had. However, I talked a few times with the school’s Principal, Chris Boag, whose enthusiasm and positive attitude convinced me to keep on trying.

Chris also told me that VSBT allows past students to sit in on the same classes again, as long as there was an empty desk in the classroom. Luckily for me, there was a spare seat for the next term, and so after finishing the original course I was able to come back a few weeks later and sit in on many of the same classes I had struggled through the first time around. This “second chance” at sitting in on the course let me fill in a lot of gaps in my knowledge, and get one-on-one advice on specific questions and concepts that I had missed in the original course.

My experience with VSBT has been absolutely first rate! The instructors are terrific, the courses are relevant and up-to-date, and the atmosphere very positive and exciting. I think the secret of the school’s success is because it is more than just a school – it is also part of a full service internet design and production company – NorthStudio.com. This means that the students have access to, and learn from, professional web designers and programmers who are leaders in their fields. NorthStudio also gains from this arrangement, since many of the student graduates later intern with the company to hone and expand on the skills they have learned and get some valuable real-life experience.
