This course will teach students the fundamentals of WordPress development, including PHP, using WordPress as a Content Management System, and theme development.
WordPress is an opensource publishing platform that was popularized by blogging. The biggest advantage of WordPress is that it allows you to create and edit websites with relative ease and without an extensive background in coding. Because of WordPress’s present popularity, familiarizing yourself with it is not only advantageous to your career, but also perhaps necessary, if your vocation is web development.
This course will teach you the fundamentals of WordPress development, including PHP. You will learn how to utilize WordPress as a Content Management System, as well as acquire the ability to tailor the aesthetic elements of websites through theme modification or through the creation of custom themes.
The last two weeks of the program will also provide an overview of “social media marketing,” which is a term that encompasses a variety of marketing strategies and communications methods used to facilitate two-way interaction with customers. In this technology-based time of ours, companies’ advertising, public relations, and marketing objectives are accomplished through popular social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter, Digg, YouTube, StumbleUpon, to name just a few. It is imperative for today’s companies to have an online presence—and more so to for it to be an effective, strategic presence.
This course will instruct you on how to create websites that rank high in Google searches, and teach you how to successfully reach and communicate with potential customers.
